1901년부터 노벨재단에서 수여하기 시작한 노벨 문학상은 벌써 100여명의 수상자를 배출해 내었다.
아직 노벨 문학상 수상자가 없는 우리나라로서는 나름 좋은 소재를 가지고 있음에도 수상자가 없는
아이러니에 있다. 남북분단이라는 것과 6.25 전쟁 역시 좋은 소재일 수 있었다. 급격한 산업화로 이룬
경제성장의 이면도 살펴볼 수 있는 좋은 소재이다. 일본의 소설가도 중국계 프랑스의 극작가도 문학상을 받았다.
이제 이념의 희생에서 아직도 완전 자유롭지 못한 한국에서 좋은 문학 작품이 나와 노벨 문학상을
수상하는 문학가가 빨리 나왔으면 하는 바람이다.
